New Owner of '01 S8
Hello All
Funny thing happened on the way to the bank!! I was out looking for a $5-8K run-around sedan as, per my sig, I have too many cars already, but wanted a grocery-getter other than a station wagon. One of the brokers showed me what I was looking for then pointed out a nice A8 he also had.
Got me thinking about such a car. Went online, and somehow came across this '01 S8, 92K miles (I know, lots of miles), but at a price I could not pass up. Been driving it all afternoon and evening. LOVE IT!!!!
I'm a retired type, both from the US Army and private industry. Most of my military career was spent in Special Forces, Special Ops and Infantry. My corporate career was finance.
I recently sold a '93 RX-7 that I had mod'd to about 400 hp, and bought a 911 Turbo with 424 hp and AWD. I also have a '99 Carrera 2 that is for sale. The wagon is my dog hauler, and the motorcycle my mind clearer. I like fast toys, what can I say.
What are the first basic mods to make, cat-back, intake, or should I just leave it alone, especially with its mileage?

jmramos - love your vehicals...even the Mazda is very nice (I drove one recently as a loaner when my Bimmer was in the shop and was very favorably impressed)...and I'm sure that the S8 is, well...very sweet - enjoy (sorry I don't know the answers to your questions).
On a related matter though - a few weeks ago I was at a charity BMW-Porsche club dyno pull-off and the winner (by a long shot) was a new 911 (that had the GT2 engine)....he was 450 or so HP at the wheels(!!) prior to putting a GIAC chip in - which he did that day...then he put close to 500hp down! Truly awesome car I must say (applys to most 911s as well...)

Well, I am near 61 years old, so figured I needed a 4-door sedan. [:@] It was the S8 or an M5, and at the price I got the S8 for, it was no contest.
I have no immediate plans to mod the car. Need to get a feel for it first. All my cars get mod'd eventually, but not sure of this one.
