Default New S4 Owner - A few questions

Hi All,

I just purchased a 2007 S4 and I have a few questions (this is my first Audi so forgive me ignorance, I'll learn about it soon enough). I did attempt to search but wasn't able to find acceptable answers to what I'm looking for.

1. I live in PA and I am not required to have a front license plate. The holes are annoying. I was searching around and I saw a picture of a glossy black plate filler. Anyone know where I can get this? I found ecstuning.com but they want $234 for it and I just can't imagine how a part that small costs that much. I found the factory one for $97 bucks but it's call platinum gray... does anyone know what that looks like? I want to get as close to black as possible. (also i'm not sure but something tells me this is not the stock front bumper / grille that comes on the S4. Is this correct?)

2. I want to get the factor fog lights. Do I need to buy the lights and the brackets where they are mounted or do they usually come with it? Right now I have just the fillers in there but I am looking to put in the fogs. Also, is all of the wiring there already? Or will I need to run wires to the switch.

Sorry for the newbie questions but I'm just starting. And I'm coming from this so it's slightly different than what I'm used to:

Thanks in advance for any help!

(I don't have any pictures that I took (i still don't have the car in my possession so here's the best picture i could find of what I have)

www.germanplates.com get yourself a customized europlate for 40 bucks. Looks sweeter than not having a plate at all!!! Also, you better get used to everything being expensive with audi. Just the way it is. Its better just to accept it

For your question number 1. that is one of the stock grill kits that comes with a 2007 S4. Mine came with that one but I ordered a grill kit from the dealer that looks very similar to the one in the picture but without the license plate section. It's smooth all of the way accross and is designed to fit your grill. Stop by an Audi dealer and look around their lot as they are bound to have a few cars with the "NON" license plate grill fitting. I'm not sure how they decided which cars got which grill but it seems to be purely randon how they were ordered when new. Go to their parts department as they should have a part number for the non license plate one.

Also mine is Platinum grey (it's the same color as the one in the car now with the license plate mounting section) and I'd say it's like a dark charcoal grey but it is plastic so you could paint it BLACK if you wanted fairly easily. Going off of memory it was (4 or 6) screws the get the old one out and I think (4) screws for the replacement one. It was pretty easy to take off and replace without having to remove anything else on the front.

You, like myself, have the DTM pkg, so there are no fog lights, no brackets, no wiring, no switch. You have a lot of work to do. The stock S4 fogs and grills will not fit.

Someone else on another form cut the grille and put some aftermarket fogs. It doesn't looks good during the day. It looks cool at night, though.

EDIT: He's on this forum, his name is mav14, hit him up, and I'm sure he'll point you to pictures.

Thanks everyone for your help. I've come to the conclusion that fog lights are not that important. I was just hoping that they were prewired for fog lights and then they put them in if you buy the option. Not a big deal. As for the filler plate, I ended up finding a site, http://www.oempl.us that has a really nice one for $150 shipped.

It's a little more for the S4 with DTM but all in all worth it. Apparently it looks really good from a few people who have them.

$150?

I don't know where you were looking, but the ECS one is $105. I don't know what shipping is. I do know that eompl.us is an expensive site.

click this link:
http://www.ecstuning.com/stage/edpd/...bcategory=Body

then scroll down to "Grille Plate Filler/ 25th AE." You have three choices, two are $104, and one is $140.

What you have to understand is that you have a stand size A4 grille. Not the S-Line, and not the S4 or RS4 grille size.

You have to get the filler panel from the standard A4, which is the same as the S4 25th anniversary edition (2006) and the DTM S4 (2007-2008)

I ordered my car without a plate holder, and it came with the filler panel that is perlescent black. It's really nice, and will go well with your color. That's the filler panel that sells at ECS for $140.

here's a pic, my car is on the right:

notice the flat gray of the RS4 to the left of my car...doesn't look as good. With a black car and black perlescent filler panel, it'll look hot!
