Hi all. I just joined. I thought I would introduce myself and post up some pictures of my new baby, but first off some info about me. I recently moved to Sheboygan wisconsin, after graduationg from Michigan Tech. I own two drivable cars, and two undrivable. The Undrivable are a 1954 Dodge Powerwagon 4X4 truck, and a 1996 Dodge dart. Both future projects. Now drivable cars are a 1996 Ford Escort that Ive turbocharged, and intercooled, and turned into a miserable Daily but a prettydecent econo track car. My last vehicle is my new baby, a 2000 Audi S4 with 109K on the clock. I just picked it up a few days ago, and have only spent about 2 hours behind the wheel but LOVE the car already. I bought it from the previous owner with a GIAC chip, MTM shocks and springs, and some sort of aftermarket exhaust... (anyone know what kind from the pictures?). I got the car for 11,500,which was an OK deal, but it needs tires and rims badly. The tires are mismatched (3 different brands and wear levels) as well as one factory rim, and three badly bent aftermarket rims (damn milwaulkee WI roads... It needs an alignment as well as a result).I plan on putting 18" Hyper RS4 Rims on it, as well as Falken ZE-512 rubber next week. I also plan on replacing the diverter valves, as I get the occasional high RPM (>5500 RPM)boost loss and can only assume that it is the diverter valves leaking.

Pics:

I hope to eventually upgrade with the APR TB pipe, AWE intercoolers, and the AWE RS4 turbo package, but all those are a long way off. I'm also hoping to upgrade with the 355mm brakes, and the Swaybark kits as well.

Welcome to the forum - congrats on the car. Your exhaust looks very similar to my old one - big Japanese coffee can thing...mine was an Apexi ...I liked the look (and it sounded OK as well) - but I don't regret the upgrade to the AWE Twin I - it sounds fantastic (particularly as WOT) and it flows better at lower RPMs particularly. Anyway have fun with your car - lots of possibilities all around - I would strongly recommend Hotchkiss H-sport Swaybars and coilovers (I have KWs and am very happy with them - many love the Voglands - which seem great for the $)...a short shifter is a must as well if you don't have one already - again - I'm very happy with the B & M...

Good morning.

Since I just joined the forum, I wasn't sure I wanted to start my own thread, so I just figured adding to an already "newbie" thread was appropriate.

Well, to summerize me...I just finished my 4yr tour with the Corps and now I'm on terminal leave (extended paid vacation). I just recently purchased a 2001 Audi S4 for 15750. She has 79300 miles to her name, with a newly replaced timing belt and brakes. I've only driven it for a total of two hours as well but I've taken it through the twists and turns of barcroft woods, I must say I'm even more in love with it.

Couple questions though...

1. When can the turbos possibly blow out? At 79000+ miles, I'm a little iffy. The former owner was a 40yr old real estate agent, and it looks like she took great care of the car, has a little medal foot but its all good.

2. The clutch. Should I just have the certified mechs look at it again to see if it needs to be replaced?
2a. How long can the clutch go for without it being replaced, under normal wear and tear conditions?

3. Is there any autocross events in the northern virginia area?
3a. My buddy who owns a 2003 nissan maxima se, wants to take my car to the strip and run it...should i?

...One last thing...if I didnt say it before, I love my S4.
