All the 'over the counter' ones at Pep Boys do is raise 91 craptane to 91.3 or so.

They don't even raise it a whole point.

waste of money.

If you want to do something, mix 100 Octane.
1/2 91 and 1/2 100 will yeild approx 94-95 Octane and yur engine will love you.

Or, if you add 1-2 gallons of Touelene, that will make 91 93(with 1 gallon) or 95(with 2 gallons)

Don't waste your money on the stuff at the Auto Parts place.

ok, I did a search for it and it is

Toluene, not Touelene, apparently there is a big difference, but yes that looks like the stuff to run, they actually recommend it more as a cleaning agent for your engine and fueling system but it also gives some fun.

Furthermore, I read on a link somewhere that one guy buys his exclusively at
Sherwin Williams paint stores. Take it for what it's worth.

sorry for the mispell.

it's basically what F1 race fuel is. 114 octane.
For F1, it's 85% Toluene and 15% something water based....

It's what pump gas is derived from.

I know lots of guys that have 5 gallon drums in thier garage. All bought at Shewin Williams stores...

I know one other guy that buys the 1G jugs and keeps one in his trunk.
He adds it to every fill up !!!!

If you want to add something other than 100/101 octane, this is what you add.

Not the crap at Pep Boys.

Here is another link:

enjoy !!!!

I'm bumping this up to get more feedback. I've been keeping up on this and just this past week started actually using Toluene.

I've noticed a big difference. I don't know that I'm getting more power though or actually how much would be more accurate.
I'm going to keep playing with it and see.

The engine runs VERY smooth and revs easier. It feels faster, but I have no way of really telling. With 2 gallons Toluene and 93
octane I think I'm running 96 +/- octane.

Anyone else?

Oh, and one more thing, I've found another link for the same, it just seems a little more in depth or complete?

Hey!, did you read the link/article? Gasoline is approx. 30% Toluene allready! It's only as dangerous as
gasoline!

When I go drag racing (not Audi, but my '73 Camaro) I use Rocket Fuel, you can check it out here... http://www.rockettbrand.com/ . If you are just looking for an octane booster instead of racing fuel, the one that is really good is made by Klotz. You can see it here...http://www.klotzlube.com/storeProdDetails.asp?pi=50

I'm still checking on this.

There's a lot of lead octane boosters.
There's leaded high octane.
I'm not sure the lead is good for anything. Build-up or emissions or exposure.
There's other high octane fuel (100 octane) listed on that web site Musculo, but the only other ingredient listed is Toluene! (What I've been suggesting to use from what I've read on these other articles.)
I'm going in on Monday and adding a 100+ octane setting to my Chip. JayBQuick says it's night and day with the 93 octane setting and 100 octane setting, I'll soon see.
That's why I'm so interested in this and why I think others may be too.

I did get some more info that is post worthy. Check out this info and see what you all think.

http://www.pureenergysystems.com/new...00069_Acetone/

Here are some quick excerpts.

Figure 1:
Percentage MILEAGE GAIN when a tiny amount of acetone is added to fuel. The curves A B C show the effect on three different cars using different gasolines. Some engines respond better than others to acetone. The D curve is for diesel fuel. Too much acetone decreases mileage slightly due to adding too much octane to the fuel. Too much additive would upset the mixture ratio because acetone (like alcohol) is a light molecule and tends to lean the mixture.

Additional Benefits

In addition to increased mileage acetone added to fuel boasts other benefits such as increased power, engine life, and performance. Less unburned fuel going past the rings keeps the rings and engine oil in far better condition.

Definitely worth more research.

Another quick excerpt.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Never use solvents such as paint thinners or unknown stuff in your gas. Toluene, benzene and xylene have been okay if they are pure but may not raise mileage except when mixed with acetone. However the aromatics also raise octane.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The "aromatics" are ones like Toluene!

Does anyone know if you need to add more or less Acetone if you have a higher octane fuel?

Anyone else giving this a try?

I'm thinking about this.

9 gallons 93 octane comes to about $31.00
3 gallons toluene comes to about $15.00
3-4 oz acetone comes to about $1.00 (remember, less is more and it raises octane)

You get 12 gallons of 100+ octane gasoline/rocket fuel for your car for only $47.00 or only $15.00 more than regular 93 octane or approximately $4.00 a gallon (assuming the 93 octane gas you buy is around $3.50 a gallon).
So only 50 cents more per gallon for 100 octane compared to 93 octane.

So, how much is that race fuel stuff per gallon that you buy elsewhere?
I think this is worth the effort of at least trying or checking into.

Anyone else?

Aaron
