Default the P-chip

Quote:

The Audi S4 4.2L V8 engine is already a precision-tuned instrument, factory rated at 340hp peak power and 302 ft-lbs peak torque at the flywheel. With its normally aspirated 11:1 compression, NEUSPEED engineers approached their software modifications cautiously. The NEUSPEED P-Chip features an optimized ignition timing map which improves throttle tip-in response and provides modest HP and torque gains.

We are currently seeing gains of 5-6HP at the wheels between 6500-7000rpm, and torque gains of approximately 6 ft-lbs at 3500rpm.
Notes

Factory chip is soldered onto the printed circuit board, so your ECU must be reprogrammed at NEUSPEED's California headquarters. Upon placing your order, NEUSPEED will send you an ECU removal and pre-paid shipping kit. Once you remove your ECU and send it out via UPS, the total turnaround time is 3-4 working days.

im pretty excited to discover this new chip, even tho it doesnt really do much for 350 bucks. im glad to see somethin for my 2004 S4 engine. seems most mod companies are afraid to mess with the tuned engine.

I wouldn't do it. $350 is huge for just an additional 5hp.

It's not that the tuners are reluctant. It's that you can't do much to the V8 without supercharging it. Since it's not a turbo, there is little room for improvement. With 11:1 compression there isn't much room there either. If one wanted to get radical, one would look to changing the internals - cams, lifters, etc. But the best bang for the buck on this type of engine is always an SC.

There isn't one yet because the engine is so new. You'll have to be patient... sorry.

Get an intake and exhaust - that should make you feel a little bit better while you wait.

A 5 hp gain would be rendered unnoticeable in a big car like that. It is tuned so well (unlike the previous 2.7t S4) that there isn't a whole lot of tweaking that can be done yet. If you wanted to spend a wad of cash you could get a custom supercharger job, but you'd end up having to change the hood and everything to fit it in more than likely at this point. Face it, it's a sedan with power. If you want a sports car, buy a sports car. That's what I did!

Not sure.... I'd start with those companies first and ask them if/when they'll have an intake for the V8.
