Are these functional or just cosmetic? I'd like to take them off but wondering whether they reduce dirt etc...

 

just cosmetic, the engine is sealed up so nothing but air can get in from the outside. go ahead and take em' off, or get the carbon covers off the rs...

 

can anyone help me ASAP im trying to put my engine covers back on my 1999 2.8 a4 non turbo and i cant put the front driver side piece back on its not sitting rite can any help ergh (its the one thats between the belts thats a b!tch to get at)
