It's a matter of money! The average guy isn't willing to spend $10-15k more for the S, but he may spend $2k more to look like one.

 

True Jest. It seems as though superficiality and "posing" has crept into Audi's world, too.

 

Well it's always been there. S4/RS4 bumper and side skirts have always been a favorite upgrade for the A4 guys. Obviously Audi pays attention to the forums.

 

I didn't mean the aftermarket circuit. I meant that Audi decided to succumb to the natural forces of one upsmanship that can be found within the American consumer psyche. What Audi did was obscure the line that separates their "normal" line of cars with their "performance" cars. The old Audi lines were more distinct; you knew definitively what was and what wasn't an Audi performance car. It's sad for the purists, but good for business. I just hope that Audi doesn't get muddied up in its own ideas.

Maybe we're saying the same thing.

This is true with MB they offer a AMG "apperance package" that is amde to look exactly like the fast ones but they dont have the engine to back it up. I think it is cheap, but they are just doing it b/c of what jest said ppl will pay 2K more to look fast.

when i was at my audi dealership (auditorium) (they wash ur cra for free (deatiled) i saw the new s4 B7 so yes it exists.

 

of course the S4 exists. i was talking about the s-line, the posers car. thought they were gonna abolish it for the B7. found out 2night that neil is right... it's coming back.. yay?

 

nothin wrong with that, i guess its aimed at the young market, who will be smoked from the insurance if the audi has the letters R or S in it.
