Default Reliability of B5 S4?

Say i were to buy a high mileage S4. Around the 70,000-80,000 mile range. How much longer can i expect the engine to last, supposing it was a well taken car of car, ie: not ragged on?

Hi guys, from wat i have seen and heard on these forums easily double those miles if oil and service in done on time and properly
Generally speakin the 2.7T engine in the B5 S4 is a pretty sturdy unit and takes well to mods - and survives well when moded
Of course there is always the odd lemon though like any car
Cheers

The engine on the car is extremely strong and reliable, and as long as you do scheduled maintenance it will last a long long time. The turbos are the only weak parts of the car, and tha\ey will blow eventually, its just a matter of time, so make sure you have 3-5 grand you can drop into the car at any time.

I got a 2000 S4 about four months ago with 80,000 on it and it runs great I went to the dealer and got new shcoks put on other than that the car is perfect and I'm looking forward to putting on the ko4s and the ecu. I hope this helps you in your decision.

I bought my B5 S4 with 52k...its about to hit 75k in a little over a year...I've had NO engine problems....my mechanic said its in perfect shape...(without mods however)....I wouldn't worry about the mileage as long as you're not a lazy bastard and take care of you car like a man. that is all

I am thinking about buying this 2000 stock S4 with 100,000 miles on it, how long can I expect the turbos to last?

Lol sooks. From what I've read and talked about with people, I'd probably have 5-6k around if you are at 100k miles. There are certainly circumstances where the turbos can go to 150k+ miles, but I think its less the norm. And, if you didn't want to spend 5-6k on the turbo upgrade, pretty sure you could just do a rebuild.
