id say its good to keep a couple grand around at any amount of miles with those turbos.. of course..if your keeping that money around why not just upgrade them [8D] ... You really dont need 5-6k around...more like 3k. But thats neither here nor there

you get out what you put in, neglect the service and it doesnt matter if its a RR or Ferrari, also when you have a little time you should get under the car and repaint it with under seal (Finnegan's wax oil under seal) this way you can see whats going on underside

does mileage really count?? the answer is no its all down to how you look after the car and a good service history ( not necessarily by the dealer but receipts are just as good) in-fact most cases better as we know how the dealer cheats

To get K04's and have them installed you think is more like 3k? If so, let me know where you go and I'm there.

Oh yea, and good point on upgrading if that money is laying around . I'm getting the itch with all this lurking I'm doing. I've promised myself not to upgrade until something blows--but we will see how long that lasts.

the idea of this type of site is not to point to to a garage to do it for you but to do it your self

I kinda disagree, but definitely see your point . I see your point regarding smaller, DIY jobs. But, I wouldn't have the time to do a turbo upgrade, along with all the other upgrades I'd want to do at the same time. Plus, there comes a time where you spend such a significant amount of money on a product that you want a professional to install it, and a professional to blame if something goes wrong.

Plus, I do think we are here to recommend shops or to recommend which shops to stay away from. Word of mouth is a powerful marketing tool.

It raelly depends on what you all put in with the turbo upgrade.. if youre doing fueling.. or things like that...

Yeah I hear that, thing is I don't really know how the s4 has been maintained for the past 100k miles. I'll have to request some service records and reciepts. I'm getting a pretty good deal on it, and basically all the money I have is going towards the car itself so I won't have 3gs laying around for new turbos.. Also how hard is the DIY for the new turbos? It's basically just swapping out the old ones with new ones correct? I think I can do that as long as it doesn't include programming.
