Hey guys, well I just got my S4 B5 the other day, was gonna go with the APR chip. Sadly I can't drive stick, conveniently (and also unfortunately) the S4 I picked up has the 5 speed auto gearbox. I'm just wondering if it can handle apr stage 1.5 (im running borla catback) and eventually stage2 and 3. If not stock, what upgrades can/will I have to do to the transmission to be able to tolerate the kind of power I'm going to be putting through it?

I also noticed the AWE and APR RS4 K04 turbo upgrades say 6 speed manual on them, are they compatible with the auto at all? I know the engines are slightly different from the automatic and the manual but does that prevent me from going to stage 3?

 

People have no problems going to stage 3 on tip/manual transmissions. Usually the torque converter goes first because of extra heat and pressure. There is also an after market transmission made by level 10 or something, i have heard mixed reviews. You should search as see what you find.As for AWE im not sure why there arent any for autos i never noticed that.

Yeah some of the aftermarket transmissions are expensive to say the least...upwards of $7,000.

Yes, you will be fine. Yes, you can K04 a TIP. Most of the people either leave the TIP stock, or upgrade the TC & valve body. No one has really upgraded the internals that I know of.

 

I had IPT do a full build including the tc.The shop that did my stage 3install, also installed my tranny and has road tested the vehicle a few times and everything seems fine with the tranny. Cant really say if a full buildwas necessary though. I guess I will find out Monday. [sm=happybounce.gif]
