Default S4 Driver HID Ballast, Dead, twice!!

what could make a HID Ballast go bad?
What could make a BRAND NEW $440 Ballast go bad in a week?????

Im just in over my head with this car... and now i just want it normal and NEW parts are also breaking!

How can a Brand new Ballast go bad??? Short? wires are/look fine! tried new bulbs, their fine. switch headlight to other connector that worked and no light... check every single way i could while i was at work at Huyndai, and nothing

Please help!

Condensation could be your problem or more likely a short somewhere. Check the wires and see if any of them are cracking.

i got a second new part, i installed it friday afternoon at the Hyundai Dealer i work at. I checked all my wired to as far as i could see. no cracks or showing of bare wires. no condensation as i could see. I taped both wires that lead to the ballast seperatly then retaped the whole wire harness for the head light.
If it goes out again, i really dont know what to do besides what Audi saying for me to bring it in for them to check it out. :S
so im going to see how long this one is going to last. hope fully longer then a week! LOL
Thanks for your input!

You could have also just got a bad part the first time and had a stroke of bad luck. Good luck with the second.

yea, i did have a bad luck part. But it could also have been a break in one of my wires that touched an othe bare wire and shorted out. I retaped all my wires and so far so good!

THanks for all your input guys!

also dont mount ballast near a hot source.

For example, on UrS4 my driver side ballast is near the stock SMIC, cold side. But still can get hot after long run.

yea! also never install in close or on your ABS Module. Will throw a Cel light or cause ABS problems. :s
