Default S4 V8 Questions

Okay so my Audi A4 is getting old and im not going to put any more work into it! so i finally got my money right and such...i test drove an 04 S4 tip and manual...thought i wouldnt like the V8 but i do! i was almost dead set on gettin an 00-02 S4 with the bi-turbo too. but after talking to the guys at audi i can make the V8 just as fast for probally cheaper and it will be newer!
sooooo S4 V8 how fast can i make this puppy with chip (idk if this is true but they said tha chip does serious HP for them) exhaust and idk whatever you put in a V8 and i know its preference on the driver but any problems with the manual trannys on the S4
can i get some prices on making this car a 12 second car
sorry to sound like a noob but im in a hurry to make up my mind

(From off topic)

First of all, if you want a B6 S4 to be as quick as a B5 stg III you're going to have to drop $20k for the mtm supercharger, on top of everything else. Even then I dont think it will be faster than the B5. A chip on the NA V8 will get you maybe 18hp (At the crank!), I'm not sure what your friends were thinking. Adding exhaust really only benefits your ears, as you'll only get another 14 hp at the crank.

Straight answer: you cant really do **** for mods on a B6. Do some research before you take their word for it. Dont forget about the V8's gas mileage as well; a stage III B5 will still get mid twenties when driving normally and probably over 30 hw.

As for the MB, if you enjoy visiting the service department, get a Mercedes. Mercedes has some of the worst reliability, even their new cars. I'd stay away from them IMO.

With a Naturally Aspired engine you will be limited with what you can do, as already said.

There are no cheap superchargers around. PES have been PEStering about on a supercharger for the V8 for years.... Even now their website still says "in development - Spring 2007". Well it's now the second quarter of 2008 and still no sign of it

The V8 S4 is really only faster than a stock B5....

The V8 has some nice points, Newer, Nicer Interor, Fewer Miles, More Relyable, sounds great. However as far as mods youve got to just be happy with a chip, header back exhaust, and some coilovers w/ wheels. MTM is the only available and proven supercharger solution available at the moment. Those mods will increase throttle response, give you a little more power, and make your car look and sound great. Get a manual, B5's have the manual transmission issues.

12's are pushing it IMO, from searching it seems like stock runs high 13 to 14seconds

it's pretty funny how so many b5 guys seem to really look down on the V8....

... i have driven both...stock and modified... and they are both a blast.... to hear the turbo's spool up with a tuned B5 is one of the most awsome sounds in the world... and the the grumble and smoothness of the V8 is just beautiful.... it makes for a tough decision for sure...

... i went with the V8 even though i was looking for the 2.7t becasue after i drove it, i was madly in love with it.... i was never a V8 guy(more of a 4cyl turbo guy...because really, the most power is going to come from the turbo set up) ... but after being in this B6 S4, i really feel like i can call it home... it's such a beautiful car inside and out... and with exhaust, downpipes, chip, and suspension... i am definetly happy with the results if i had much more than 400hp anyways i'd be getting into too much trouble, haha

Ya the V8's are only faster than stock b5's. If yr looking for the fastest audi, get a b5. Even the R8's are too slow for us! Get a B5 S4 and go stage 3 with ko4's and you'll be very satisfied. Or just wait for the new b8 s4 that will hopefully be a 3.0 biturbo.
B5 s4 FTMFW.

Iwouldnt say the b5 gus are really looking down on the v8's...but the guys question was asking about making the car fast... and the fact is the v8 isnt as fast as the 2.7t with mods... i can run about a 4.0 second 0-60.... the v8 wont do that..

But their not really knocking the v8... its a strong engine, the b6/7 platform is great, i love the looks of it, and nearly got one myself, the interiors are nice, i like the exterior better, the sound is nicer, and more options.. but a moddded b5 is faster and better gass mileage

When i first looked at S4's i only looked at V8's because i didnt want a 6 cylinder. They were too expensive though, and i eventually ended up in my B5, couldnt be happier
