RE: S4 V8 Questions
Roughly $10k. If your on a limited budget, You could buy a cheap stock-ish car for under 14k. Then you can either buy the turbos, and fueling seperate which would be just shy of $5000, or just get an OTS kit like AWE for $5500. Gut your stock downpipes and find an exhaust shop to make you a new exhaust, thats only a few hundred $. Clutch is about $600, resurface the stock FW, Intercoolers from AWE are another $1300, save some money with an FMIC if you want.
That brings you to maybe $8000, if you have to do maintance related stuff a little more. Then you can get some stoptechs for a little over $2000. So 25k on the car and stage 3, how much are the v8's?
You can also buy a good condition stage 3 s4 with way more goodies that ^ for around 20

I'm new here. I'm close to a purchase on a 2004 S4 wagon 4.2L....
I searched around... I'm gonna bump this up as this thread is asking the exact same question I've been wondering. I talked to an Audi shop and asked the same question - basically, what power can I make at the crank with complete exhaust (OEM header and rest aftermarket in other words) and a chip. They said I would be making 390 at the crank. Is that right/in the ball park? Sounds possible with a good tune and alot better flow, but I'm new to Audi's and don't know how restricted the OEM exhaust is or how detuned the V8 is from the factory either.
So is 390 bhp alot to ask for with complete exhaust (DP back) and a tune?? Even in a 3900 lb car that would seem to be reasonably quick. I think it feels pretty decent at the stock 340 hp level so 390 seems as though it would feel pretty sweet. Let me know if I'm off here experts.
Thanks.
