2wd is better than 4wd in the dry, ordinarily. When it gets rainy or snowy, that situation changes.

I'm still trying to figure out how the S4 beat the M3 on the Top Gear track. It was dry, and I would have thought it wouldn't have done as well as it did.

The 6-banger may not actually -be- overworked, but it certainly makes a bit of a meal of things when it's cranking out the horses. All that screaming and wailing (Which some people like, I will conceed). It gets the job done, but the V8 does it just as well with a lot less fuss.

NTM

Definately, I gotta think that if you drive both the M3 and the S4 hard, you will have a lot less wear and tear in the S4 cuz it's engine isnt workin as hard to produce that power. Also, my friends M3 isn't very reliable with only bout 25K on it, he's had a clutch replaced (probably his fault not the car) and drive belt snapped.

I wouldn't assume because an engine is putting out more power per c.c. that it is working harder. The BMW 6 is a very very good engine, and I have not heard of any reliability problems for that engine.

Yeah the dealer told my friend he just got unlucky, for the most part they are reliable engines. JUST LOOKIN FOR ANY EXCUSE TO PROMOTE THE S4, can you really blame me?

Im surprised so many consider the interior on the audi as more desirable than the Bmw
it is nice..
I was thinking
when does that new M3 arrive- the v8 powered one?
It seems it would vanquish a contending b7

The new E90 M3 with the v8 is going to be a 2007 model year car. I guess it is going to come out in late 2006. I think the target numbers say it should be around 410hp.

Too bad the e90 body style is sooo ugly!

That's because you're bench racing, comparing numbers and reviews from too many different people. Regardless of the numbers, when you get boths cars out there, they are very close to each other performance-wise. They go about it in completely different ways, and couldn't feel more different while driving, they're still good competition.

I always hear people say that the M3 is faster, but the S4 is nicer. The S4 is nicer, but around a track, the M3 is not automatically faster.
