I've search and searched and am confused.

My S6 has 235/45 ZR17 tyres. According to tirerack and other sites, my car doesn't exist.At least not in the US[:-]. The closest I could find is 2002 S6, but they come with 255/40 tyres.

Which is the correct original size and what would be the benefits/problems of putting the 255/40 on?

 

255/40ZR18 i think is stock

 

My stock size is 255/40-17 (US model) and we only had the S6 in the US in 02 and 03. It should have the stock size listed in either the door jamb or the owner's manual. Maybe those are the winter tire size?

 

Try checking Gas tank lid as well,

Checked the gas lid a long time ago. Only gives tire pressures depending on load in the vehicle.

Owner's manual was misplaced by previous owner (it was never under the steering wheel).

My wheels look like Camo's. It is not like the S8 which has slightly rounder wheels. I don't know how to explain it, but the 6 spokes in the S8 are not as pointy as the ones on the S6. Am I making sense, or should I post a pic of my dirty wheels?

 

****... my tire/wheel app book does not have the s6 in it, lol. you need to go witht he same size tire that came off, that sounds right. you can order the tires from tire rack with out applying you vehicle application....

 

I'm guessing one of two things regarding my tires:

1) The previous owner downsized for some reason, or
2) The size I currently have is for the European model of 2001, which is a thinner tire than the US model's tires.

I'll have to find an S6 around here to compare tire sizes with. Now that will be a challenge.
