Default Should I buy an S4?

I have a 2006 impreza and a built 2000 trans am. The firebird maybe sold next month to a friend and im looking for a car that replaces the fun of my T/A and the practicality of the subaru. S4. its a sedan, twin turbo v6 all wheel drive. seems like a bullseye.

If i wait until my firebird sells i could get a REALLY nice low mileage one or I could get the one i test drove today right now.

I drove a silver 01 S4 and it was in great shape inside and out. pulled hard, shifted awesome. I couldnt find anything wrong with it. They want $9995 but the kicker is it has 140,000 miles. That makes me nervous, especially since i know how turbo cars like to empty your wallets. With that many miles i dont think it qualifies for a 3rd party warranty contract either. What would you guys pay for an S4 with that many miles in good shape?

I think he means they aren't bulletproof, the mileage on the particular car seems a little high, I would wait and look for one with under 100,000 miles and all the maintenance records such as timing belt.

I paid 12K for mine and it had 80K miles on it so I would find one under 100K miles. Good luck

Is yours a 2000 for 12k? There is a 00 for 14k but it has 74k and looks to be modded. Which is good and bad. yes i want mods, but no i dont want it abused...maybe ill look for an A6 with 6 speed.

I just picked up a stock 01w/45k 6 speed, the previous owner was 64 years old for 15k.

You are lucky chris. All the S4's around me have 80-100k miles and they want 16-18k for them. Only ones less then that either have salvage title or a million miles.

Mine is 2001.5 Stock 6spd (except a professionally installed Rockford Fosgate P3002 Amp) with 44.5k miles on it for 16k.
The person I bought from was a doctor who didn't know the kbb value of the car.
Car is in wonderful shape.

I've seen 80k mile S4's go for 12-14k
