Default so great

Well I have done it, driving down the road today I was just shiftung along, nothing hard just havin a little fun.... Well all of a sudden I couldnt downshift into 2nd or 1st. I knew I was having problems with the syncros. So I called the dealer they want 4,837 to replace the damn things!!! I thought well ill stick it out, now the car wont go into 1st or 2nd at ALL!!!!!

Now my question is, should I just replace the trans or anyone have any other places to go to get the work done that would be a little better on the wallet????

he needs a tranny rebuild.... not a new clutch... but that is a tough decision... i dont know how easy a new trans would be to find but if it was my car i would have it rebuilt to make it stronger

I had my trans completely rebuilt about 300 miles ago. I payed $3750 for it. I too had the first gear second gear problem. I also had the whole clutch assembly replaced along with clutch master and slve cylinder. Not sure if one could have to do with the other but my clutch master was siezed up. Now everything is like butter. About another 12-1500 for clutch and mas/slve cylinder install

there is no real reason why to make it stronger, when you have it done just make sure you get those newer syncros from jhm or vast or whatever it is
