So here's the deal...
So as some of you know, Hano's KO4 blew and we have been taking it all apart. Tomorrow morning we're taking out the driver's side turbo and inspecting the damage. As we were taking things apart, it didn't look pretty... We took off the lower intercooler pipe (driver's side) and no joke, about half a quart of oil spilled out. Took off the intake manifold and there was a decent puddle of oil in there and then it got worse. We looked inside the intake ports and the valves are covered in oil and dirt. Some small chunks of whatever about an 1/8 of an inch big are sitting on the valves. So those have to come off in the future, too. The most logical explanation for the turbo blowing is this. When we put on the bailey diverter valves, I hooked up the wastegate hose with shitty clamps and it leaked. So it ended up overboosting the wastegate and the turbo went POOF! I accept responsibility for it since I hooked it up and of course, feel like ****. So the plan now is Hano will be buying a **** car at an auction for transportation and we will make the S4 into a track car, something we've been dreaming of doing. It isn't final but that's what we think is most logical right now. And funds prevent us from getting the car running again for quite a while. So yeah... don't what else to say. I'll try to snap some pics of everything in the morning once the turbo is out.
to my understanding, the small tube on the top of the DV.
right now we are having a bitch of a time getting the bolt out on the turbine inlet, once that's out it shouldn't be too hard to get the rest out, too. we're doing all this without dropping the engine or tranny. so far we've just taken out the subframe and the whole front end, intake pipping, intake manifold and such. if we had a cherry picker this would prolly be a lot easier

it is a shitty situation. but i'm a person who believes all things happen for a reason. it has been decided that we will turn my s4 into a track car. at first we were thinking about just selling the car after we cleaned some of the **** out and get a new car to fiddle around with. but i love this car, and it would make such a great track car. this is why i have decided that my s4 is going to turn into a track car for sure. it'll be fun to own a track car. and plus, now i won't get killed on the insurance with this beast. so now, all we have to do is clean this mess up and have a fun time. let the good times roll...
