a friend of mie claims his STI does a 4.3 0-60 that is alittle fast considering he only has a boost controller.

 

Don't under estimate te STi. It is very very fast. First of all its lighter than the S4 and has 50 more HP to boot. A boost controller will bump that a good bit since it will allow the STi to hold a good 14Psi in all 6 gears. Maybe more but I would make more upgrades to accomodate the increased boost. Stock the Sti is 0-60 in somewhere around 4.6-4.8 so .3 off isn't that big a deal.

50 more hp? I assume you are referring to the older 2.7T S4's? The 4.2s have about 40 more hp then the STI.

 

yeah, but the b6 s4 is heavier...Audi qoutes 5.3 for 0-60 and the best test results in a car mag that I have seen is 4.99.

 

I have been able to take 3 STis straight up - with APR chip....(though I will credit myself with superior launch and driving ability) - all were pretty close - but as speed increased so did my advantage. I also was able to easily outmanuever one in heavy rain - he was tryin to put on a show for me and I stuck to his tail - while he started slipping and sliding causing him to break it off I was planted with no traction issues whatsoever. Just FYI.

They do have 300hp stock, with a boost controller. I donno

 

I dont know how much faster they really are, but i was able to keep up with one in my '01 completely stock S4. In about two months the track here will open and there are three STI's that run so I'll find out for sure how they compare. Though I think with the AWD launches a lot of it will depend on driver ability. Anyone know what the 1/4 mile for a stock 2.7 L T S4 is?

A little off topic but i thought you guys would enjoy this...
A kid at my school whos mommy and daddy spoil the crap out of got a new STi toward the end of February...the kid didnt exactly have the best driving record or habits which is why everyone was sketch about him getting the car. Many people, along with my self knew that he was going to total it shortly after he got it. He had never driven a stick before and the kid literally has no self control behind the wheel of a car. Needless to say...while coming home one night from a friends house after clearing his headlights, he "was doing 25 mph around a blind curve when 3 deer were running across the road. he swirved, shifted from 2nd to first and the over corrected locking up all 4 brakes when he lost control and went up an embankment". Clearly a BS story and i hope you all know enough about cars to see that the kid is simply pulling a story out of his ***. HE claims the insurance company cut him a $33,500 check and only paid 28k for the car. The rest is bla blah blah. Anyways heres some pics. late
