Stranded 300 miles from home!
My S4 let me down today. I was headed home and I heard a thunk under the hood. My power steering went out and the alternator light came on. My tensioner pully had siezed and the accessory belt popped off. The last few days it has been squeaking a little at start up, but went away. I didn't know where the squeak was coming from and didn't expect it to fail so soon. The parts won't be here until Saturday morning, errrrrr. The guy at Audi said that he has to pull the front end to get the pully off. Is this correct?

The nice thing is, the dealer gave me an A4 1.8T loaner free for 2 days, and I got a cup of starbucks and some apple juice from the lounge. I feel sorry for you A4 guys, damn this car is slow. The dealer is outrageously priced, but it's worth it to know that their work will be backed up.

HAHAHAHAHAHAH ROFLMAO!!! ^ This is true about the A4's I have never been in one, nor will I ever for that reason. It would be funny to see an A4 guy's face if he reads this.. Sorry about your luck though. Yes you would have to take off the front end to do this.

I finally got home two days later. The idler pully and tensionerwere $136 vs 98 on ECS. The belt was $55 vs 26. They really got me on labor, tax, and shop fees. The total bill was $500. This one really hurt because I couldn't do it myself.
