Thats a great deal on that car. Looks clean, real clean.
Im going to try to help you with your decision if i can. First off the hp. With the rs4 turbo upgrade kit offered by wither www.awetuning.com or ecstuning.com you can recieve between 400 to over 500 hp depending on the gas you put in it. This car is german and the parts or EXPENSIVE. this is not a car for someone with a light wallet. If you dont mind working on cars yourself, which im assuming you dont then along with your s4 get a VAG reader too. This will help with any problems that you may encounter with the check engine light.
The internals of this engine are seriously strong. Ive heard of people running between 24 to 28 lbs with the rs4 kit without ANY problems.
Im on my second transmission but my car has almost 100k.-- apparently you cant slam this gear box around like you can with a mustang i had.
All in all this is a elegant car that is inconspicious. Not many people know about this little 4 door sadan but you will smoke the fudge out of most cars you line up agains on the street or highway. Its up to you. Look at www.s4biturbo.com if you want some timeslips for 1/4 miles and the mods they have to take it to that point.
ohh i also just took a trip across the us and got 28.8 mpg average througout the entire trip. not to bad. I hope this helped you.

well where to start again haha. Horsepower. well, 350-380 whp is about the standard stage3+ setup right now. you got ro remember, that with awd you lose a lot more through the drivetrain than you do rwd cars. so that whp is good for around 450hp at the crank. HOWEVER... there is the gt28rs kit that just recently came out that will be capable for much more hp...somewhere around the 500-650 mark. unfortunately its expensive and only a few project cars have had it out. there is a casa white avant that is being completely overhauled with this kit that is oging to be making some serious hp that will be out in about a month that i know of up in mn. so if you want some serious hp, thats the route youd have to go..otherwise, you just get a very fast car. haha. stage 3 is no joke. i know this may not mean much to some supras, but i ran dead even with a c5 z06 at the track, and i havent done my intercoolers, or running 100 oct. so you can get some good speed. Not to mention..sorry to poke a bit of fun here.. but isnt there a joke out there..whats the difference between a 5-600hp supra and a 900 hp supra... answer being just 300 hp. meaning they run the same times and that traction becomes an issue as well as a loss of low end power to spool the big turbo.
With the front mount intercoolers. DUH used to make one, but it was poorly constructed and caused a lot of problems as well as blocking the radiator from getting air (i believe) so i think they stopped making them. however (again) asp is manufacturing one as ive seen the prototype that will be out very shortly (that casa avant is the prototype, along with 2 other cars) along with another company i believe is also in the process of releasing one.
That nogaro is a avery nice car..ive seen it before, he got the platinum tint on it and it looks good. very clean, and would be a good buy. got a few mods, but nothing over the top so you can still add your own flair to it.
the supra and s4 are completly different cars.. the s4 is more of a rare beauty, while the supra is a powerhorse. s4 is more of a sleeper car that few people are knowledgable about and will surprise people... (as i esp noticed with my day at the track..i got a ton of compliments..esp from the mustang vette owners who thought they could walk me and were shocked when i shot on by._ now i know mine looks completly stock outside of lowered and brakes, but it is a much more quiet car while the supra will draw you all sorts of attention be it both good and bad.

VERY helpful comments from all of you. I appreciate it.
Sooks: very good points man. The supra is loud..I've had it running for only a couple weeks before the engine blew again, and I already racked up an exhaust ticket. I love the sound of S4's. Although, my decision doesn't seem to rest in whether the car will be quiet, rare, etc.
I just need to weigh out whether I would rather drive a jeep all year round and a supra when it's nice out (and running). Or drive an S4, have less headaches, less NEGATIVE attention
, etc.
I want to go check that nogaro i linked you guys to out. I bet if I see one up close I will be able to decide a little easier. It may just be time for a change, engine or no engine, I can still throw the for sale sign on and probably have it sold within a week or two.
Time will tell... [sm=icon_cheers.gif]

I love the Supra for its' exterior, handling and engine wise but the interior just blows. looks too old skool now. Now the S4 interior is PIMP, especially the sport package with alcantra...
well, supra is up for sale!!
we'll see what happens...
sooks: i found this: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...hreadid=103436
seems to good to be true?? 300 bux? I immediately want to order a downpipe for the s4, as I did with my supra and it makes a world of difference. Any suggestions? That nogaro has the awe exhaust i think..

wow it was weird finding this post up. I have a white single turbo T78 supra and I'm looking to move to a s4 as well. I've been doing alot of thinking as well. The decision is a bit different for me as I haven't had any issues with my supra. I bought it stock and moded the hell out of it for the past 4 yrs. Now its got a cage, race seats, single turbo, coil overs, gutted interior, race slicks etc... I can still drive it on the road but its a real hard, loud, smelly (i have the fuel smell too) ride. Not a great car for long drives and gets around 12 mpg with the fuel injector mods. I guess since i did all the mods myself and researched each mod carefully I have been lucky. I have friends with similar stories to yours but they went with z06's. I know one guy that had a z06 and went to a supra. He's just into hwy pulls though and its a weekend car.
I'm really into road racing (i.e. track days), so my choices are to keep the supra and get a smaller turbo like a t61, or to get a stock s4 and track it. Thing is that I'm pretty sure I'll want to mod the s4 to get it track ready. But that should cost under 2K for suspension work.
I would probably go with a z06 if I had the money but my budget is also 25K. I like rear wheel drive and sports car looks but part of me wants a a daily driver, sedan style car. I would also prefer to buy the E46 M3 but again money is the issue, probably 35K to buy it plus 3K in tax plus another 2K to fix it up. Same with the Z06. So given my budget, the s4 is the best option. Its reasonably fast stock, looks good, and is a good daily driver plus awd will help in bad weather.
I'm leaning towards keeping the supra because it has been problem free for me and its already ready for the track. The s4 will probably need some suspension work and a chip. Plus, i kinda like the looks i get with the supra. No one usually wants to run me since they know its pointless so I can usually just cruise. Plus I like the looks of the supra more. Its definetely more agressive looking than the s4 and rare. It looks like a real sports car. Buy you can't really compare the looks of the two cars, depends on the owner preferences.
One more thing, most of my friends with supras haven't had any issues. You might try and see if you can find a used stock supra and go bpu again with it. Most bpu supras are very reliable and will get you 400 rwhp which is no joke. I can't see myself giving up a 500 rwhp reliable hot lookin rare car right now. I'm gonna try to keep it and have both a supra and s4/m3 down the road one day. Just gotta work harder I guess.

You know, I bought an S4 for different reasons that those you guys are citing. But, my point is, if you have a Supra, isn't that worth a hell of a lot more in the long run? Aren't they more rare than an S4? If so, they should (theoretically i.e. supply and demand) hold their value better. Now, I live in Colorado, so a Supra would be a joke (and a half a year car--at best). As my only car, the S4 is perfect---so far. But, if I was in an environment where RWD was fine all year round, I wouldn't even have looked at the S4. Just my 2 cents.
