these brakes are such a pain!
so i got in my new brakes yesterday and i was putting them on today and everything was going smoothly till i got to the point where i had to take the caliper off. I couldnt not find the right size to unscrew the bolt that has the plastic cover and i read a tutorial that said it was a 7 and it was too small and an 8 was too big
then there were these other bolt i believe they were carriers bolts that were 22mm
not possible to break the sealand get them off
next week ill have access to a lift so when i put my exhaust on ill do all that too i guess
just frustrating
i ended up just changing my pads
if theres a really good tutorial someone knows of thatd be great

The ones with the rubber caps on them are a 7mm allen I am almost certain as I do about 2 a day. But they should also be for the carrier. Not the caliper itself. The caliper its self is just a 17-19mm head if I am not mistaken...
I'm also pretty sure I can get the pads and rotors out without removing the caliper at all.
I just pull back the retaining clip and push back the pistons with a screwdriver (there are small notches for one) And then I just pull the pads out the back.
If the caliper actually has to come off crank it with a 17-19 mm head with a breaker bar. they can be real tight. then use a small bungie cord and suspend it from a control arm to keep it out of your way.

the tool required is a star drive or torx bit so caution because if you strip the bolt head it will need drilling out and if you dont know how it will cost you a new carrier, to drill out use a small drill it so it dosnt catch the threads of the caliper then use a reverse threader tool to remove the weakend surplus of the bolt
i really hope the guy who owned it before didnt strip that bolt because the 7 allen head is too small
i tried getting the rotor off without taking off thecaliper but it was just too little room
if i had another cenimeter i could get it off
im gonna try again in a few days
have a fresh mind on it

yeah thanks man
the ECS rotors are really nice looking too
i was pissed when i couldnt get them on
the ceramic pads defaintly feel nice tho
does anyone have trouble with their brake fluid container cap?
i feel like its leaking out the top of it
any thoughts?

To take the rotors off it's pretty simple. For the front there are two big bolts that hold the caliper on I believe they are 3/4, I usually loosen the bottom one almost all the way but so it's still on then I take the top one all the way off and pivot it down then the rotor should just be able to be lifted out. I do it that way so I don’t have to support the caliper with wire or anything. There also is a bracket that secures the brake lines to the caliper that you might have to take off to get to that top bolt. Install is the reverse. This is how I do my brakes, I'm pretty much a expert on these brakes now I've taken them apart and back together about 15-20 time since I've owned the car(long story)
