I am thinking of buying an S4. So far I have seen 3 in my price range but I am having a difficult time deciding which to buy.
1. Nogaro Blue With the Blue Seat inserts 6 speed manual- the car has a new engine and drive train with about 38k and new suspension, but the body has 104k on it and it's a 2000 with new Khummo tires $14000

2. Nogaro Blue with the Blue Seat insersts Tip with 90k and all the records and new tires $11300

3. Silver 6 speed manual with 89k new turbos minor scratches on the side and on the front bumper, MTM chip, will need new tires soon and center LCD doesn't work. andafter my test drive the engine was smoking a little (dealer said it was because it hasn't been driven in a while)$14995

So please leave your input because i really don't know which way to go. I want to make a good purchase and any input is appreciated also I prefer a manual.

1. If it's had that much work done to it, what kinda care did the rest of the car get? Pass.
2. IMO not a fan of the tip, I love my 6sp. Has all service records, if you can deal with a auto.
3. What color smoke? Maybe cause it's been sitting but still not sure on that one.

I would keep looking for a S4 that has been cared for and fits what you want. JMO

Engine Smoking? Lol, tell that dealer (stealer) to go **** up a rope.

Smell the smoke, does it smell like burning oil (ie. oil leak dripping onto exhaust)

#2 sounds like a good deal, although I'm not a big fan of the Tip tranny.

#1 might be alright, do you have paperwork on the work that was done? Did new turbos come with the new engine? I think that one is here in Denver.

 

So I took #1. to Prestige Audi for the 2hour inspection today and they said it needed some work but it was in better condition then most he sees but needs new brakes and about a total of 3k of work to be in perfect condition. So I offered the seller $11500 and told him I'd use the rest of what he was gonna charge to get the car in order. He didn't get mad so I guess I will wait until tomorrow to hear what he is gonna do. #2 seems good but I may rather wait then get the Tip. As for #3 that's pretty much a done deal (not gonna buy) because it's the most expensive and in the worst condition, funny how that works.

 

Did Prestige give you a report of all the work that it needs? Post it here, let's see how much work it really is.

 

Yes they did. I left the reports in my wife's car, but I can remember most of what it said. Ok, one of the motor mounts was leaking, front window had a gap in the top, skid pan missing, clutch felt stiff, drivers seat belt needed to be replaced, cup holder sticks, right washer hose needs to be replaced, i'm not sure but I think they said one of the end links was bad and and something else was open in the suspension. I will have my wife fax me the paper and I will attach it and post so I can be %100
