Default Timing Belt

My Audi book says that new timing belt comes in at 105k approx, but ive heard of people having theirs break as early as 85k. i know it can really scrwe up the car if it breaks, so whats a good time to get a new one. im at 65k.

yeah, now is the perfect time to change your timing belt. but they sell a timing belt kit at ecstuning.com for about 260. and it'd be cheaper just to do it yourself. it's a tough job, but pretty straightforward. i know there's a DIY on audiworld tech.

agreed, DIY, a LOT cheaper, and you learn some stuff

btw, i heard anywhere betweem 60-100 miles. i'm not familiar with the engine bay of a 2.7t very much but if you can get a glimpse of your timing belt, look for yellow cracking, which means its time to replace.

+1, you will deff get alot more out of it if you do it yourself. youll get a chance to become one with the car. HAHA.

PS DONT GET ur windows tinted at least not the front ones. Just got pulled over and got a ticket for that but i mean its only 10 to sign it, 10 for the court and about 40 to retint them LOL so it aint too bad

00Azul, WTF did you just say. No disrespect, but you should proof read before you post!

I did my timing belt at 59000, but the only reason I did the timing belt that early is because I had a small oil leak around the right valve cover. It cost me around 1200.00.

i have a 2001 and only 34,000 miles on it, now I know the belt goes bad with age as well as milage but is it really necessary for me to do it at that low of milage?

I did mine at 104,000....Audi knows their specs......it was a PITA....but anyone can do it, just take ur time removing the bumper and not breaking any clips...I did mine in three nights after work, including tig welding my own cam lock tool.......cost me $380 in parts between ecstuning.com and some other company from arizona.....I did the water pump, timing belt, t-stat and gasket and accessory belt as well as timing belt tensioner, pulley and accessorie......my dealer wanted $1800.....
