Once the bumper is off it is really easy. The biggest thing to remember is to thoroughly mark both cam pulleys and the crank pulley with white out or something like it so you know they are back in the same place. Also change the thermostat, tensioner and idler pulleys too. Get a bentley manual to help ya out. Plus with all the cash you save it easily justifies the cost and you can have more money for mods.

With the bumper off, you can see how accesible everything is.

Completely apart.

When I worked at an Auto parts store years ago, Beck Arnley was good stuff. It usually had oem manufactured parts. The were what we used for all the german parts we carried and japanese parts.

I'm getting it done for about $700, including installing all of the ECStuning parts (i.e. not just the timing belt). I negotiated with the shop to get it down this low. I would suggest negotiating on everything--why not. The worst they could say is "no".

At $700, I'd rather have someone else do it, and spend about $300 extra than if I did it myself.

That is actually a good price. I have done a couple on the side and I won't do it for less than $800. HAHA

$700 isn't bad...............But for $800 you could get rs4 intercoolers and a electric fan kit. And I here you get about 1 more psi of boost with the rs4's because they are more efficent which works out to be about 20hp between the 1 more psi and the electric fan kit. Of course not to the wheels. And you get to learn about the car. if u do it yourself.

This is another perk of having a shop doing the job (not to say it's the best option for Everyone)--the shop that did mine gave a warranty on the parts and labor. Basically, if something goes wrong, they'll take care of it. On the flip side, the mechanic told me that he wouldn't offer the same warranty if I bought the pump from ECS. All in all, going through him (to get parts) was about $50 more than buying the kit, well worth the warranty.

I"m at 80K, and just talked to the dealer yesterday. They said the manual says 105K, but they recommend at 90K to change it. I'm under warranty until 100K so I think I'll wait till 99,999 to do my timing belt MAybe it'll break and I'll get a new engine under warranty ....wicked little devil am I.
