I just bought a 2001.5 S4 and I'm considering tinting my windows (mostly for the purpose of protecting the interior from the eternal california sunshine). Can tint damage the rear defroster? Will this decrease the value of the car? Also, if anyone has any suggestions on what type of tint to get or where to get it done (in the SF Bay area), please feel free.

 

tint does not damage rear defroster or increase the value of the vehicle. i would sugest getter 15% legal or not i'll still get 15

 

get tint dude, i have a 30% on my 00's4 and it great for the sun and makes it hard to see into the car

Go with the tint dude! Makes a big diff in the appearance of the car ... I've got 35% front, 20% rear (legal maximum in Ontario), and I have had no problems with the rear defroster ...

 

get the tint, i hate not having it in my car. But i live in so cal so its sunning all the time. Be careful not to go over the legal limit. That is the most common ticket to accompany ur other ticket at my school. The will get speeding and then say i think ur tints are to dark and that sucks. As soon as i decide what i am doing with my car (s/c or sell and get s4 or 1.8T with K04) i will be tinting it.

 

I'm going to get my silver 04 s4 tinted. I believe it should help with heat build up in the car, sitting in the sun....I would think that the factory glass has 100% uv protection, but I am not sure..anyone know?

Thinking about doing the 50%, anyone have that light of tint and have pics they can post?

Honestly i wouldnt get above 35%. Anything higher than that and its hard to tell if the windows are even tinted. Im sure you could go to your local tint shop and ask them to show you a couple samples though.
