Lightbulb Toluene as an OCT boost

Im thinking of trying this....what are your thoughts on using it? I did some research, and it seems to be the way to go. If you want me to go more in depth of what Ive learned about Toluene or if you have comments about what you know, please post.

Cool, thanks for the OLD thread find. Although the notion of adding Acetone worries me....but it was only 3-4 oz. This will be my weekend trial.

I think i might get a 55 gal drum delivered to my farm (cuz weve got a forklift to unload it fight off the truck) and start adding 1 gallon of toluene to every 13 gallons of 93 octane every time i fill up giving me a 94.5 octane mixture....

(13gallons*93 octane) +( 1gallon * 114octane)
14 gallons =94.5 octane

or maybe...

(13gallons*93octane)+(2gallons*114 octane)
15 gallons = 95.8 octane...

can someone test this out and let us know if it is really worth it. It sounds almost to good to be true?

After some thought, I know the ECU adjusts the timing for varying OCT. But question the difference from using 93OCT with 91 chip setting and using 93OCT with 93 chip setting? Or 100OCT with and with out the 100 chip prog. No matter, I'll be doing this on the weekend and let everyone know.

I wouldnt go as high as 100 octane without a race program, but i could see boosting it to ~95 octane on a 93 octant program and maybe seeing a little effect.

The difference wont be immediate because you have to use the unmixed fuel in the lines first then your ECU probably needs time to adapt. Its not going to be like running a full on race file i think it will just make it smoother and maybe make a little more power.

This is really usefull for when i go to montana and all they have is 89 or 91 octane.... i want at least 93...

Eh! Went and got some Xylene, didnt have Toluene. Did a 30% mix with lub oil. Drove 5 miles with 2 high revs....3rd rev @ 5mile mark seemed a little more peppy (maybe 5-10 more hp) but the smoothness is more noticeable. I think I can put down a couple hundred for 93 and 100OCT chip progs. Then I should notice any HP gains.....with my straight pipes I could smell the difference as well as hear it. Cruising at a steady pace felt less jittery. Hard to say.....But I see no harm in paying some money as you would for any toy, you just wont like it as much as you thought.
