You should understand everything it is telling you because it gives you the code and tells you what the code is right next to it. If you have a lap top Vag is a must buy. you will get better with the system as time goes on.

Example:

If I get a lean code one of the first things I do is go into meas. blocks and check the Mass air flow sensor g/sec reading and check that it is in spec.

you just get a hang of what to check with what fault. it is really a great tool.
