Default Track ???'s

So im takin my stock s4 to the track to put up some base numbers before i start modding it, ive never owned a awd car before and am having some trouble figuring out the best way to launch this thing. What RPM do all you other track worthy owners drop the clutch at??

I would recommend launching between 2-2.5k. At least make sure not to launch any higher then 3500 because this puts an enormous amount of stress on our AWD cars. Launching higher then that could twist the drivetrain or screw your car up quite nicely.

When I tracked my Last Stock S4 I launched just over 2500 and that was fun. I have yet to take my new one up im waiting to get everything done to it and get it running the way I want. I did 14.3 With my stock S4. neck and neck with my friends 350z but he cant drive.
Good Luck at the Track!!!

IDK Shay, I'd say that's a little on the low side of the tach when launching (at least if you're trying for a decent 60ft time). These cars are a lot tougher than you think, which is partly why they're so heavy! There are guys with Stage III's and GT cars putting down waaaay more torque than us, and they're the onlyone's really breaking/twisting things. Just like any AWD you have a ton of grip, so you only really have to be careful not to burn the clutch...

Try this:

I would suggest not launching at or around 4000 rpm because i did that a couple times with my stock s4 and i tore up my tranny. i would prolly suggest around 2- 2.5k rpms. i would be careful with it.

Thanks Redhawk. I didnt say it was impossible to launch higher, but is it worth destroying your tranny and other things. Its just a safer way to go and what most S4 owners launch round

94 mph is good for 13's. What was your 60 ft. times? How high did you launch the car at?

Did you go through the water box or around it?

i was in the right lane, my buddy with a 427 horse turbo integra was in the left.

haha i beat him in the 60 foot. not by much though

i launched it at about 2500rpm's and let it slip the clutch so i didnt jump it and bog down. and yeah i avoided the water trap

Need's more launch. With a 1.8 60 ft. you'd be at 14.0. With a 1.7 60 ft. you'd be at 13.8

Your friends integra would be at 12.40's and 12.20's with 1.8 and 1.7 60 fts. FWD SUCKS!!! He has impressive mph though, but 13.0 shows he has no traction or a poor launch.
