V8 vs. turbo
I'll start by saying yesss4, your car is gorgeous.
Secondly, I don't see any advantage in a B7 from a B5 for your "luxury, gizmos, looks, handling and speed." Don't forget that even stock, or with just exhaust and a chip like you have, the B5 s4 is extremely luxurious, has lots of gizmos, looks great, and handles like a dream.
Granted a B7 will have tons of less miles, but you can find a low milage b5 for a hell of a lot cheaper than any B7.
As for reliability, yes a warrenty would be nice. However, it's still an audi. It's still going to require lots of maintenance, and seeing as it's newer, the parts are going to be that much more expensive.
Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the posts (and compliments)- I honestly expected more B7 bashing in favor of the B5 based on a lot of other threads. Point well taken about price as well.
Surprised to see mention of a supercharger on the B8 - I talked to a guy at my dealer and he said turbos were much more likely. Either way, should be an awesome car. I sat in a 335i today and while it's a beautiful car, I still prefer the Audi for the look and feel of the interior.
the only thing is that you dont exactly have to mod the crap out of a b5 to make it tear a b7 apart speed wise, spend 500 on a chip and b7's wont touch you, i do love the body style, the interior, the noise, and b7's sure as **** arent slow
I'm fortunate enough to own both a B5 and a B6 right now. Both have chips, intakes, exhaust and some other goodies. Obviously if you like to tinker with your car the B5 is a better choice because there are so many aftermarketparts out there. I feel that the ride and comfort of the B6 is aquite a bitbetter. It is also a larger car though. The milltek exhaust on the V8 just sounds awesome. The B5 is also ablast to drive though. I liked my B5 so much that I just decided to keep it after purchasing my B6 and now I just use it as a comuter car. The maintenance cost on the B5 is quite expensive though, since it does have more miles and they are quirky cars. For all out speed, I have my 06 GSXR 1000.
Yess4 did you test drive the 335xi? I test drove the B7 s4 and 335xi back to back. I agree that there is nothing like an S4, 340hp, exaust note, pure audi goodness. Beautiful car. I was shocked at how much smoother the ride in the bimmer was though. (test drove outside of Boston) I am on the fence about which one to get. However, for 10 large less, better gas milage and similar performance, the bimmer has alot going for it IMO.
Both are great cars. If i had the option of a b7 or b5 when i got my s4 i would have been all over the b7. Less miles, more stock HP, nice v8 grunt, much better interior, and newer looks. But a b7 costs significantly more than a b5 and i do like the moding aspect of the b5 much more, because of the 2.7tt opposed to na v8

What about the B6? Used ones are a steal...great shape, mid 20's. And most are still under warranty.
