Hello all, I've had my new-to-me 2001 S4 for a few weeks now, and I love the seemingly endless amount of power the fire breathing twin turbo V6 delivers.. but it seems to have its good days and its bad days. For example, this morning I ran to the store and put my foot down (after letting it warm up of course) and was delighted when the cold morning air threw me back in my seat. After grabbing only a gallon of milk, I put my foot down to over take and nothing happened. It feels like it didn't even boost. Is this something to be concerned about? Or am I just being paranoid about my new car?

could be a boost leak or even a gunk'd up MAF. check the throttle body boot. are you chipped?

pick up some MAF cleaner at autozone, remove your MAF and spray that bitch down. buy or make a boost leak tester to find any leaks.

Have the computer scanned for codes, and post any that you get.

*sigh* No boost leak, Cleaned the S#!& out of the MAF sensor, and not a single code on the scanner. Not sure what else there is. Just a huge lack of power.. its all the time now. Is it possible its running in limp mode? The display says "service" and doesn't say what I need to service obviously. It feels like a systematic oppression of my fun. What am I missing?

Possibly failed diverter valves or stuck waste gates?

That had crossed my mind, but how do I check for those?
