Default To warrant, or not to warrant...

My 2001 S4 is nearing 50k miles. I can't think of another car I'd like to own right now, so I'm finding it hard to lay out a ton a G's when I can simply keep on motoring with my current ride. So I'm thinking I'll just keep the car for another 2 years or so, to about 75k.

The question is, do I buy an extended warranty ($2,600 to $4,500) depending on level and duration? or do I take my chances with repairs? We all know how pricey those can be, especially with fragile turbos... and will the depreciation render the car next to worthless?

Any advice, hints, suggestions, shared experiences will be welcome.

Thanks.

BTW: I've heard the cost of extended warranty coverage was negociable. Is that true?

I'd like to know the answer to this one too. I'm shopping for a 2001 or 2002 S4. If I buy an Audi certified (with 100k mile warranty) I'm paying a $3,000+ premium over a similar used one. Want to know if I should fork over for the certified or save my money for mods.
