I've got straight 3" piping all the way to the turbos with no cats, and I love how it sounds. It's really raw and kinda has the gurgle of a muscle car when it's idling. A friend of mine has the twin-1 setup and that sounds pretty good too.

I custom made 2.25" dual pipe exhaust. No muffler or resonator, I left the cats in in case I ever get pulled over during an emmisions test. It sounds really nice, other than a little farting noise when down shifting and in between 1st 2nd and 3rd shifts. I like it though. I might go with piggy pipes soon though, after that I may consider putting a muffler on or something just to keep the noise from being over loud.

Is there a best exhaust strictly for performance gains? I would assume the AWE Twin 1 or Autospeed Tru Dual would be the best as they have twin pipes all the way to the mufflers. But is there really a noticable difference between those and a $600 Neuspeed exhaust?

I had my exhaust setup made by a local muffler man. I've got hookups so thats why I go to them for work. But I just did steel piping, I know stainless would be better but its more expensive. You might be able to buy the tubing from a shop maybe. I don't know though. And I know the dual exhaust is "supposedly" better, so I went with it. Is the neuspeed exhaust dual?

true story...and at wot it backfires like no other.

you gotta be nuts...the downshift backfire/pop is the best!

Agreed! My borla is nice and low pitched with copious amounts of popping when letting off the throttle and downshifting

Don't get me wrong, I do love the popping at times. But when I get in rush hour traffic when its bumper to bumper stop and go, it can get on my nerves. But I'm willing to put up with it since I only do that 5 days a week.
