Long-time reader of the forum now shopping for a 2001 - 2002 S4. I've researched most everything but the last thing I need to work out is the timing of an extended warranty. Turbos seem to be the high-expense item, so I want to make sure I'm under warrantly if / when that happens.

If your turbos have blown (in an unmodded S4), could you let me know what mileage it happened at? I'm looking at a 2001 S4 that is CPO. It is low mileage which I think might be a problem because the CPO will end in 2007 at which point the car may only have 55,000 miles on it. I don't want to be penalized for buying a low mileage car because the turbos blow after the warranty period expires.

they will blow at exaclty 55,001 mi. Haha no one can say that it depends on so many factors its hard. If u let the car cool after a hard drive for liek a minute (just let it idle or drive taht last bit slow). It also depnds on which year u have (after 2001.5 the turbos oil line was made bigger) and how often other maintence has been done. I ahve heard of a few going on a stock s4 at around 100,000 on a very normal driver not hard like i drive my cars.
