will the B5 chasis s4 ever
you never know what will and will not become collectible. Its not a rare car though, although neither was the Mustang when it was out and an original one with all #s matching gets a fortune today. It is 40 years later though. My cars value went way up in the mid-90's then back down again, just lately its going way up again...its 25 now...you would most likely have to wait 30-40 years and keep it mint to get a lot of $ and trust me, its a pain in the *** to have a car that old...
I figure it like this. In 2000 there were 5xxx made here in the USA. Gotta account for some getting totalled and such. The Camaro SS of the same year is fairly rare and a collectable, but there were more than 5k made. So if there are less of our cars out there, then wouldn't that make them rare?
it's kinda likeart. why is the most expensive painting sold at auction from the 40s? what about all those old ones from those really famous guys (whatever their names are)? people who are an authority in the matter have to say that was a great car and there aren't any that can match it from its era.
Just like any car, it will be "collectible" to someone in the future and it will mean allot to the right buyer... Look at some of the old cars.... Im not a fan of say an older Ferrari that one guy might buy for $500,000 because its rare and he loves old ferraris. NBut on the other hand if i found an absolute perfect 70's porsche 911 that i just had love at first sight for..... i would pay endless ammounts of money for it even though it might only be worth $50,000.
Pretty much its all in the eye of the beholder.
Right now if i had to go with a S4 collector....
I would go with a 2002 Casa/Pearl white Sedan or better yet a Wagon with under 30k miles. Then possible have it withblack leather and white inserts.and just let it sit. and keep it of course stock and numbers matching.
If you did something like that.... i bet in as little as 15-20 years you could get a really good chunk of change.
However it will all depend if you can find the buyer... You could prolly sell it for say $30,000 but there will be those select few guys out there that are die hard and realize the car and would pay ALOT more money.
