Lightbulb You learn something new all the time

For months i figured my car was always stock, and yes i was kinda proud of that. well today i was at the audi dealership in mechanicsburg getting them to shut off my 50,000 mile service light. and i asked them about a noise that i had always been thinking about. they said" dude, that car is chipped!" Anyone know anything about this "stage one" thing cuz i dont ?? 50 to 60 hp+

Haha what was the sound you asked about? Congradulations, let the modding begin! You should get a boost gauge, its pretty usefull...

A chipped car is alot faster than stock, you get even more TQ than HP from it also...

Required watching for B5 S4 owners: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ib79bRlc9nM

Stage 1: Chip
Stage 2: Chip + Catback
Stage 2+: Chip + catback+ downpipes
Stage 3-: K04's on stock fueling
Stage 3: Turbos, fueling, tune
Stage 3+: More than k04's

the sound was the turbo louder then what i thought, i drove an 2000 red s4 for a month or 2 a year back, and i was used to that sound, so when i got this i figured it had a bad turbo, they said my car is tip top now. they had to replace a head gasket, a misfire. now its perfect.!!

Ah makes sense, i wonder how they knew....

Theres alot of routes you can go for a boost gauge....finding a gauge online, and cutting apart one of your center vents(above the radio) would be the cheapest. AWE sells a gauge with a new vent, it matches the colors of the dash gauges but its also pretty figgen expensive for a gauge. Theres another plastic piece for sale that puts it right on the steering colum, winston over on AZ sells sweet stepper motor gauges that match, probably expensive too... O.CT tuning has a whole new gauge cluster that shows the boost witn LED's right in the tach.

Boost gauge is the easiest way to tell if your chipped and also helps diagnosing problems sometimes

Cool thanks,

yea dont ask me how they knew they had the whole front end of my car apart and were doing stuff for a good 5 hours and 2 test drives now its smooth as butter, they say iv got 300+ hp and i didnt even know it an i think they said the chip put like 100+ MORE tq

iv seen those boost guages even sticking out of the vent like one of those little airfresheners

the sound i was hearing was kinda like a mufled turbo i guess that is the boost? thats why i thought it was a turbo going south.
