Metal click coming from exhaust while driving
As the title states. Been trying to track down this issue in my S3. I have a dealer appointment for warranty work on the 26th, but I live overseas, and there's a language barrier, so describing the problem to them has proven to be hard. The symptoms are as follows. During driving, I can hear a very loud set of clicks and pops coming from the exhaust. They're not entirely different from the kind of sounds you would expect to hear while a car is cooling off, but I hear these while driving. No car I've owned over the past decade and a half have made those sounds while driving. The noise can easily be heard when driving in an enclosed area (next to a median, down an alley, etc.) I've had the car on the lift to look for possible exhaust leaks, loose clamps, etc, but found nothing. I've disabled the valves through vagcom to no avail, checked that none of the heat shielding is loose, but I can't pinpoint where the noise exactly originates from. I think it's coming from either the cat or the resonator, but it's hard to tell as the sound resonates through the exhaust. Any insight would be helpful, especially if you've experienced this yourself. Cheers.
