1999 B5 S4 Coil Pack issue
Hi Guys,
This must be a question that has been asked before but I can't find anything. Maybe someone can help?
I have a coil pack issue I think. I've had the same issue before and solved it with a new coil pack.
The question is this - Is it possible to test the coil packs to find the bad one without buying a new one and swapping it out one by one with a test drive until the problem is solved?
Thanks!

If you think you have a bad coil pack, simply start the car and unplug the coil packs one by one. If the idle gets worse that coil pack was working properly, if you unplug it and there is no change you know that cylinder was not firing properly. Whether the fault is actually due to the coil pack or something else takes more testing.

Hi, thanks for your reply.
I swapped one out today and chose it because it was the only one I hidden swapped before. By luck it seems to have helped. Unfortunately the problem was intermittent and only under acceleration and I still get some sort of misfiring at times even after the swap.
It's one of those annoying problems that only I seem to notice because I know the car so well. Grrrr...
