I never post in the S4 forum, I am not worthy, I currently only own an A4 but I will get straight to the point.

The opportunity to purchase a 2001 nogaro blue avant S4 has come up. I am a little skeptical but the car itself seems to be in supreme cosmetic condition for a 14 year old car. The mileage is high, but at least the car was not modded or tuned by anyone, all stock parts. If I had the pictures on me I would post them but either way you guys will not have to wait long for pics because the car is being sold tomorrow, and I expect it to be mine.

My questions are, is nogaro blue (hope I spelt it right) rare for an avant? I know this guy in my neighborhood with a sedan-s4 in nogaro blue and its pure sex. Secondly, other than basic maintenance, what upgrades do you guys recommend? I know that there will probably be a lot of surprises, as always, so I was wondering, once I am done replacing necessities, should I replace the diverter valve for a better one? I don't know if it is necessary cause the motor is bone stock, no chip no exhaust. I was also thinking of upgrading the center differential to a Stasis 4:1 ratio differential.

update: I am currently at auction for the car... it will be mine tonight.

 

with mileage like that i would definately do a ton of maintenance. for the diverter valves you probably want to upgrade to the audi tt 710n's. theyre cheap and good enough for up to stage 3 power. you're also probably gonna want to do a full timing belt job, check all boost hoses for leaks and replace all the vac lines you can see. if the turbos and clutch are original youre probably gonna want to replace those too.

the color/interior color combo is pretty rare especially since its a wagon. the only things that would make it even more rare would be nogaro alcantara interior and sunroof delete.

So Friday afternoon, the car went from $575 all the way up to $3500. $3000 was the max I really wanted to spend on the car but decided I wanted it. Long story short, I don't know what happened or why it happened, but the S4 was removed from auction literally like 30 minutes before the end of the auction. I was so bummed out. It should be illegal to get someones hopes up like that. My buddy theorizes the seller/dealer didn't get what they wanted for the car so they removed it from auction. Maybe that's smart of them but really bad for me.

In the auction papers the cars actual value was estimated at 10 thousand and change.
If they thought people would give that much cash for that many miles they are nuts. To be honest I was intrigued more by the cosmetic condition of the car rather than its mileage, but a nice car wont get you no where if the heart is poop.

 

$10k is a joke with that mileage.

if $3k is what youre looking to spend expect to pay the same, if not more, on maintenance.
