Question 2004 S4 Beginner Performance Help

Hey guys I've had my 2004 Audi S4 4.2 for almost a year, it runs like a champ but I was wondering what someone on a poor man's budget could do to make her more fast, at least have some more lower end torque. I've seen super chargers for about $6000 or so, then I have to figure professional shop hours. What about a turbo? Any ideas are appreciated.

You're pretty limited unless you have deep pockets. I've never heard of anyone turboing one of these, only stuff I've seen is exhaust, tune (many say not worth the $), and the super charger. Otherwise it's mostly suspension mods and short throw shifters.

Default I think that's about it

Generally people don't turbo the 4.2 engine. It seems to lend itself better to a Super Charger, but they are pretty expensive and if you're on a budget, that's not the thing to do.

I am ho hum on the Cold Air intake. I think that was almost no difference. The exhaust definitely was a change and the shift kit is huge because it lowered shift times considerably. The JHM Tune is the way to go and go with the 93 octane. Launch Control alone is bad ***. With that + the exhaust your S4 will beat almost anything out there unless it's heavily modded.

I looked at an E46 M3 conv and unless I turbo'd the M3, my S4 took it off the line and out handled it (granted mine is modded for handling bigtime). On the freeway it's very close though.
