Removing 2004 S4 Engine???
Just brought home a mint 04' S4 with the Tiptronic transmission. Previous owner said the #6 injector stuck and washed the cylinder down 30psi. He then replaced that injector and drove another 1500 miles until a rod bearing went. So Im getting ready to pull the engine out but not sure what the best way to do that is. Pull out just the engine? Engine and trans? Drop down the entire engine cradle? I have a two post hoist so have a few options. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
my guess would be remove the front first, remove harness, mounts , unbolt it from the tranny, remove accessory's and remove anything else on the way shake it till is lose and work your way ? at least thats how i always did it on the 1.8t, gonna be taking out my v8 s4 engine out for clutch and im not really sure how but im sure i can figure it out.
If you're going to have the engine out, spend the extra money and service the timing chain. There are a few parts prone to failure on the '04 models. Save yourself the headache in the long run.
JHMotorsports or ECS Tuning have the kits you need.
