Default A3 intermittent(!) knocking when steering right

Hi guys,
Any help would be much appreciated. My 168K '54 plate A3 Sportback has started making a knocking/creaking when steering right, since a few days ago. It happens when not necessarily steering to lock and only when I'm in the car on my own, never, so far, with someone sat in the passenger seat. After someone has sat in the passenger seat it stops for a while, up to a couple of days, then returns. I've had both wheel bearings replaced on the left, so know it's not those, and the nuts and track rod ends have been checked and all seems good there, no play in anything. Would I be right in thinking this may be a suspension issue? The car drives fine and no play in the steering. I maybe should add I weigh 7 stone (98 lbs). Thanks for reading.

That sounds like a broken engine mount, thats what my A4 did anyway.
Have a look under the bonnet while somebody, with the hand brake on, shifts from reverse to forwards & see whats happening.
