Hey guys . what would cause my gas mileage indicator to be all over the place. I had a half tank of gas and the dashboard indicated 225 miles , then 175, 130 so on . would it be a bad fuel filter ,fuel injectors or Ohh i have a fuel too lean code

 

Was the needle on the gauge moving dramatically in conjunction with the "miles until empty" reading? That is just an estimate calculated by the ECU based on engine load, what gear you're in, how fast you're going, etc. I wouldn't put too much stock in what it says.

If the gas gauge was acting erratically you could have a bad sender, which is fairly common. It's bolted to the top of the fuel tank and you can access it by removing the back seat and then removing an access panel located beneath the seat.
