Default Daytime Running Lights?

Ok, here's the deal...

As I think I mentioned before I imported my car into Canada from the US. I'm hoping to get around the bumper issue, but there's no getting around having daytime running lights.

So I called the dealership and they tell me I'll need a new wiring harness and it's 4 1/2 hours of labour to install. 4 1/2 bloody hours?!? So what I'm wondering is this:

Does anyone know what this special wiring harness is, and does this seem like a reasonable amount of time to install it or should I be looking for other solutions here. Any input greatly appreciated!

Steve

Nope... there is a "switch mod" that can be done on the US cars to make the fogs work almost like DLR's but not a true DLR.

you can either try this fog light mod and just turn them on each time http://public.fotki.com/mcphill/audi...ht_switch_mod/

OR

you can hook the lights up to a 12v source when the car is on. Take the wiring behind the switch and hook it up to a positive 12v source when the car is on and your done.

That fog light mod would be perfect! Thank you for that link, very much appreciated. Looks like I have some reading to do. That's basically exactly what I'd like to do though (as I never use the fogs anyways).

The dealer said in cars that were post-2002 it would have been a VAG type fix but in 2002 and older, it wasn't (mine is a 2002).

Thanks again guys, that was quick!
