Thumbs up b5 s4 vs sr20det 240sx

I'm running a 93 octane chipped 01.5 s4 with a few supporting mods and i'm wondering how I will do against a sr20 powered 1990 240sx w/ full turbo manifold back exhaust, FMIC, and intake.

So If anyone has raced one of these cars and can tell me what i'm instore for that would be great.

I was just worried about how light it was and that engine throws down decent numbers... I guess he will just have to reel me in after I rape him off the line

They are light and can move - what details do you have on his car? Stock SR turbo or an upgraded one? How much boost? What kind of tire/suspension setup? And most importantly, what's the driver's story - does he have experience launching the car? RWD Nissans have a lot of anti-squat in the rear suspension that helps them handle at the expense of getting off the line smoothly (axle-hop is common unless the suspension has subframe collars to anchor the rear subframe to the chassis). If he's set up right and knows how to drive, he could be a challenge. You have him in power most likely, but that's only part of the story.

yeah he is running a stock turbo that is on its last leg (excessive play in turbine) at like 8psi and as far as suspension he has it slammed with coil-overs and that is pretty much it... he is running re-11 in the front but crappy tires in the rear.

Also it has slipped that he's not very good at staging the car and I guess he misses 3rd a lot...he finishes it on Friday so I will post the results

I don't recall if the stock turbo on the SR was a T22 like the twins on my 300Z or if it was a T25, but at normal health that's a 250chp engine. If he's on a dying turbo he's probably below that. Also, slammed coilovers aren't necessarily the best setup for racing from a dig. Crap tires don't help any more than missing shifts and sucking at the line.

However:

he's gonna know that an S4 that's stock and healthy is gonna be right at the edge of what he can handle with his car in good shape. I'm assuming he knows you're stage 1+ and will have read up on that as well, so he's gonna know you're bringing 320hp or more to the party along with the holeshot advantage. Why he would still race you is beyond me. There's more than a passing chance that the other side is blowing smoke up your *** and is setting you up for a sucker play - even moreso if you've got stakes in this. Just worth mentioning it is all...maybe he's just stupid or cocky, or maybe he's just being cagey.

You should easily roll him, stock sr20's are pretty slow, they are way over hyped.
