Thanks, but I hope you meant Corvette>Mustang. Not that you have a bad car or anything, but it's never too late to get a Z06. I paid $20,000 for mine, but mostare selling from $25,000 to $30,000. Not a bad deal, huh?

I got mine because I cought the ad the very first day the guy ran it. And it had 99k miles, but it is seriously in near perfect condition with a flawless history. I couldn't be happier. But $30k will get you a mint one with 20k miles and $25 will get you one with 50k miles. Why are they that cheap? I don't know, but I think it makes for a damn fine car for the money.

Funny how nobody ever seems to loose to mustangs. Or maybe they just don't talk about those times. Back when I had mustangs and street raced, I won about 90% of the time. No joke. Of course, I wasn't stupid enouph to race cars that were faster than mine. One time I showed up at the roadcourse on a day that the SVT club was there. I was passing '03-'04 Cobras two and three at a time. That was fun. There was a new GT 500 behind me on the grid driven by a guy who siad he was a professional race car driver. I told him I would let him pass on the first lap so he could have the open track. He siad, "okay, but you havea faster car than me." No disrepect to them, but I am happy to have moved up the ladder. '01 Z06, by the way.
lol. Well, by no means do I mean to shoot at you from afar here, but I mean, to say you're comparing apples to oranges here would be a gross understatement. For all intents and purposes, a Mustang is a "daily-driveable sportscar." Yeah, before you all start crying I realize that there are more obvious examples of sportcars, but a mustang is a "big motor, 2-door, RWD," car. Even if you don't agree that its a "sportscar," lord knows even a GT is much more of a sportcar than an Audi.

I only note this, because you're kinda implying that its pathetic that many of us don't beat them frequently...especially the likes of a Cobra. This in itself wouldn't be much of a big deal, everyone's different, and everyone's got different cars, but the fact that you're driving around in a Z06 puts your car in a different class. There is NO denying that any vette is a fullblown sportcar, nevermind its pissed off brother the Z06.

I love the 'vette, but you telling us that you beat mustangs in your 400hp sportcar really has no bearing on what an Audi can/should do in a straight line against them... just MHO.

You got me wrong. I am in no way implying that it's pathetic that you don't beat mustangs more frequently. The opposite, in fact. Reading this thread and others, all I see is people listing Mustang GTs as kills and very few people ever saying they have lost to one. I only brought up my Z06 vs. Mustangs story because others have already given stories about beating mustangs with non-Audis and I thought some might find it entertaining. I'm sorry if I got a little too far off topic.

I raced my dads 2007 mustang GT with exhaust and real hood scope...he crushed me.All I have is exhaust an a intake, so I probably need to be stage 2 chipped with a testpipe to even hold onto his back bumper. Oh well[&:]

What stinks is that there alot of posers driving stangs. Many go to great lengths to make theirs look like V8s. I saw one in particular that actually had a pipe welded to the frame to make it look like it had duals.

If you don't have alot ofcash and you want speed, they are great. With a tune, headers, H/X pipe, intake, 4.10 or 4.30 rear gears, you will mash alot of cars on the road. The older you go, the more engine tech savvy you have to be. There are alot of tricks you can do to mustangs for more power. For instance, I do recall one year you could swap theplenum from a Ford Bronco and gain a few hp and you could find them in a junk yard for very little money.

I had an 89 LX 5.0 at one time. It was a great project car, but I ran out of money and sold it. I was making very little money and living as a bachelor at the time.
