S4 vs supercharged S2K
ORIGINAL: teamdaraptor
S2k's launch at 7k rpms... usually. That's what they're SUPPOSED to launch at. They hit vtec around... 4.5?? i think.. I cant remember what my buddy said. He used to have one. Dude, that thing smoked a 300+whp Z33 from a stop. The launch is everything. Driving skill is also another thing that wins or loses races. Reguardless, not doubting your car, but those ******* are LIGHT and they are QUICK off the launch. Good luck tho!

I testdrove an RX-8 the otherday... was a effing blast. Handles well, high revs.. not much torque but it was still way more fun than my near stock A4
Seriously.. get that thing on the free way, redline 3rd, soooo fun. I think I scared the D-bag dealer dude. Oh well.. drive it like you stole it while the dealer dudes in the car for the WEEZZYY
8.5k Redline btw, in those!

the newer S2k's with the 2.2 engine or was it a 2.4, anyways bigger engine they went with did have a lower redline.... i think they cut if off around 8 or 8.5.. but the first S2k's with the 2.0 do redline at 9k ...... and the v-tec on the S2k's kicks in around 6 or 6.5.... way too high if you asked me.... those things really need to unleash some power earlier... i think the factory must have done it to save emissions.... when i used to tune honda's i had my dohc v-tec motors kicking in the v-tec around 4,400k to 5000k ..... you definetly want to be staying in the v-tec mode after each shift. if it drops below then your definetly missing out on the greatest part of the power band = loosing races.
obnoxious??? i would have to dissagree....
the v-tec technology has been one of the, if notTHE BEST engine design ever!!! it has a damn racing cam built in that can switch back from stock to race.... there are no other N/A motors with the potential of the DOHC V-tec motors...
when i used to tune my DOHC V. engines i absolutely loved the v-tec.... when it kicks in the engine just changes and turners into a completely different beast.... it's really something to be driving around town, getting 30 miles to the gallon and when you feel the need to take it past the v-tec, your engine turns into something completely different pulling hard and making great power up to 9k(at least mine did)..... what a rush and what a sound.... 9k in a car.... need i say more....
....i know it can get annoying when young kids are driving these cars like idiots.. just getting the v-tec to kick in to annoy you... but don't let that get you down about the technology....
....what's more annoying these days are all the kids in the evo's and Subaru's getting there loud BOV's to blow off on every F-ING shift!
