Default what is it going to take to get 250 wheel horses from a 2.0t

I just got an A3, coming from the honda crowd. My last car was an N/A hatchback civic that ran 12.8s at the strip. I could tell you exactly what to do to get an honestly fast honda, but I have no idea what to do with these things.

What would it really take to get 250 to the wheels out of this car? I know there are turboback exhausts, intakes, and chipping, but is this enough? With Hondas we just did motor swaps from heavy hondas to light hondas, but what kind of magic is needed here?

And at what expense? Cost? Reliability? Mileage? Warranty?

ok well im glad to hear you switched from ricer to euro, i as well made the same switch, but yes cold air intake, turbo back exhaust, and chip will help, im not sure what hp you start with but those all together will maybe get you a full 60 hp if you buy good quality brands, but 250 to the wheels isnt that much for and audi because they are heavy cars, if you have the money you can upgrade the turbo, then change the side mount intercooler and put in a front mount instead, as well as upgrading pistons, fuel injectors, the whole nine yards so that your engine can handle the larger turbo, and then get a new clutch to handle the improved hp and torque and your good to go

There is anAPR turbo kit and that should give you about 380hp at the crank. I don't know what that would be at the wheel (15% less??). And with that you don't have to change the pistons or rods. Go to "goapr.com" for more info.

thanks for the info, this is all good. Now as far as clutches go, I got the DSG tranny, is there a point of no return with this thing? With a honda trans you can pretty much put 700 horses through them and they don't even care. What does the DSG do with ~300 little ponies all trying to clippity-clop their way out of it at once?

The DSG tranny is not a bad transmission. I am not too sure how much horsepower they can take. But 300 should be good. Before you check with somebody who knows more about the DSG. The manual transmissions can take 500+ hp.

for what i see the a3 comes stock with 200 sae hp so reaching 250 would not be hard:
1-apr claims 252hp/303tq with 93 octane- 600 + tax
2-revo claims 260hp/299tq with 93- 500 + tax
3-giac xchipclaims 230hp/267tq with 91- 550 + tax

all of them get you to the 250 around range, add exhaust, intake, new injectors and a mbc you would be golden for somewhat beyond that 250 range

thats strange GIAC is usally the more agressive tune and I thought their site said gains of 50 hp and85 tq with intake and exhaust. I have just got the new GIAC tune thats adds another 24 lbs (over their normal chip)of tq in the 2500 3500 rpm range, so around 300+ tq all together. Plus the TT is really 210 hp stock as Audi under rated it so might be the same with the A3.

yeah but they are claiming that on 91 octane not 93 like the others, there would be a little more improvement for the giac on 93

thats what GIAC claims on their site and it doesnt say 91 or 93. I dont think going from 91 to 93 oct will give you 20 HP which is whatthe diff is between your 230 hp and thier 250 hp. I was just going by the site numbers. Actually with their new file you get an extra 24 lbs of TQ besides the 85 original gain in the 2500 and up rpm range so around 305+ TQ. Now all these numbers mean squat untill you have a dyno done.
