What would be better in a race?
Hey all,
I'm trying to decide on my next car, and I'm having a hard time making a decision. Basically, I'm considering an 00-02 A6 2.7T, an 00-03 Saab 9-3 SE or 2.0T, an 00-03 Saab 9-3 Viggen, or an 00-02 A4 (i don't really know the A4's that well). (Also, all manual transmissions)
Basically, I'm trying to figure out what might be best for beating common cars... I can't say I'm too highly interested in hardcore street racing, but generally my outlook is that I want to be faster than the rest of the cars I encounter in suburbia. (I want to make fools out of all the Civic ricers and such, and I also want to be faster than my stock BMW 3-series and stock audi friends)
I'm really only interested in a turbo'd car, and I plan on chipping whatever I get. I'll also probably do any additional DIY mods that I can get my hands on.
So, in sum, what would be my best option? I've heard great things about the A6, but I do know that it is a bit heavier and such. I also didn't know how the Saab's compared, seeing as they're coupes/convertibles vs sedans. I'm having a hard time figuring out just which one will provide me with the best ride, while still being fast and good-looking. I don't know too much about any of the A4 models, but should I consider those as well, or is the A6 typically better in all cases?
[edit:] should i also consider a TT? An s4? oy!
So torn!
Thanks in advance guys!

i have an 01 2.7t a6 and its quick, plus the mods are endless and with enough moneyyou can be over 400 awhp. i beleive the 2.0t saab is in the same ballpark as the 1.8t a4, both are quick but not very fast. Out of the cars you mentionaed i would grab a viggen if you can find one with low miles! Pretty rare car and a ton of funto drive. Brother in law has one, and i've had the pleasure to drive it for a week. Its a great car minus the understeer(can barley keep it on the road when on the throttle) which can be fixed with a few modifications. If your leaning towards an audi , id say go with the a6 if you want some room, if not get the s4 and go stage 2+ and you should be kicking some *** on the streets for 2-3 g's in mods.
yeah I was leaning towards the a6 2.7t, and I've been looking around at some s4's as well. if I can find an s4 that is easily reachable, I'll be going for that.
there's actually one I saw that was $12,500 with 100k miles that has a borla exhaust, REVO chip, 18" RS4 wheels, with the timing belt/water pump/wheels/tires/etc at 90k... wouldn't be too bad haha.
thanks for the help so far... does anyone have additional input?

yeah I think I'm going to go for an A6.
As for the turbos, is it a hugely difficult job to do on your own? I have a lot of tools, and my buddy has an engine lift and a vast amount of mechanic tools.
Thanks so far guys, your input is very useful.

It isnt the easiest job to encounter. Obviously the engine would need to be pulled to get at the turbos. If you are mechanically knowledgable i'd say its do-able. I know shops will charge anywhere from 20-30 hours to swap the turbos, so its definatly a time consuming job
