Hello, I have a 2001 Audi A6 4.2, I am in process of changing the ride set up. I have the Eibach Pro Kit lowering springs, and new Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus tires on the way.
But I need help in regards to the shocks and struts. Since i will have the suspension taken apart I am changing the Shocks and Struts but I dont know what brand to purchase. I am not looking for just an OEM replacement(even though stock is a nice ride), i want to improve the performance of the ride as well but with out going all out on a coil over kit etc. . . (hence why i purchased the performance springs) I have looked at Koni, Bilstein, and I have seen the brand Sachs? but dont know anything about them. I am looking for a balance of more performance while keeping a somewhat smooth ride.
Any help / suggestions would be great!!! Thank you. . .

 

I suggest that you talk with a tech at the company that is supplying the springs and with one at the shock manufacturer/distributor of the brand(s)that you are considering. He or she will need to know just what your objective is...

 

most people either run koni or bilstein for the sturts. I run konis with tein ss springs in the rear. My fronts are coilovers though. with the ebiach i would go with the koni yellows.

 

thanks guys, ill def give the different suppliers a call. My technician was suggesting that i just use stock Audi Struts and Shocks because they have such a long warranty on them and are made by same company that i would buy performance springs from, im not to knowledgeable when comes to suspension stuff

 

if you are going to run aftermarket springs i would lean towards the negative on that. OUr stock shocks cannot handle the springs aggressive rates. Your stock shock will blow in a matter of months.

 

thanks thats what i figured as well, right off the bat i was leaning towards Koni or Bilstein shocks and struts. But i figured i would turn here for help/suggestions. thanks again
